OBITUARY
Robert Biscoe General Motors retiree was WWII vet, Legion member Robert Biscoe, 85, of Bentleyville, died Friday, April 15, 2011, in Washington Hospital. He was born January 18, 1926, in Bentleyville, a son of Joe and Emma Packmayer Biscoe. He was a graduate of Bentleyville High School, where he played basketball and scored 500 points in one season, a first-time record for the WPIAL. A veteran, he served during World War II as a corporal in the U.S. Army in Central Europe. Mr. Biscoe retired from General Motors, working at the Fisher Body Plant. He was a 65-year member of American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville. Mr. Biscoe enjoyed horse races at The Meadows and once said he was the last of the two-dollar betters. Surviving are two children, Robert J. Biscoe (the late Gayle Ross) of Philippi, W.Va., and Saundra A. Damich (Gary) of Bentleyville; grandchildren Ashley Biscoe Gerken (Dean), Heather Biscoe, Deidra Damich Stepko (Zack) and Cassie and Derek Damich; a brother, James Bisco; and a sister, Lois Perry (Clark), all of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his wife, Mildred H. Smith Biscoe; and siblings Joe, Joella, Bill, Richard and Charleen. Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until noon, the hour of service, Monday, April 18, in Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, with Pastor Paul Peternel officiating.
